Sony and Microsoft in the purchase of purchase: Ubisoft expresses itself to possible takeover

The big companies in the video game industry are currently in shop mood. At the beginning of the year, Sony closed a deal with Destiny Developer Studio Bungie, while Microsoft previously negotiated a mega deal with Call of Duty Developer Activision Blizzard.

Sexism problems with Ubisoft: Since July 2020, a toxic corporate culture has been accused of the French developer and publisher. Underneath far-reaching sexism problems, women's kneading and discrimination, which should be deeply anchored in the company. While ubisoft has already been consequences, for example, employees of the management level were exchanged and to the allegations openly commented on, in-house, these measures are felt by many employees but not sufficient.

Accordingly, the question remains which large developer studio is next. In a quarter of investors on Thursday, Ubisoft now expressed a possible takeover and how the future would look like.

Ubisoft wants to stay independent

Consists of Ubisoft? CEO Yves Guillemot to understand that Ubisoft would not be categorically reduced to a purchase offer. Of course, the interest of all involved, ie investor inside, employees should be taken into account. (via VGC)

At the same time this should not arise out of necessity, because one can also afford to stay independent:

Ubisoft can remain independent: we have the talent, the financial size and a large portfolio of original IPs.

In the course of this, Guillemont also explained that Ubisoft continues to have access to all platforms, as all platforms would need great content that Ubisoft wants to provide of course according to their own statement.

For example, Ubisoft is the largest Third Party Publisher on the Nintendo Switch, which is why the company can not allow to end this cooperation. The joint work has even created collaborations such as Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.

Currently Ubisoft has to struggle with the problem that many employees leave the company. All reasons to do this on Destiny Developer:

Cryptic side set of Guillemot

Ubisoft, at least, does not attach it to be bought up. CFO FRÉDÉRICK DUGUET later declared in the conference call that the company does not want to speculate about how it has not yet given any offers.

But that's not quite true: Guillemot added that in addition, it should not be speculated whether an offer was made. The small edge note could mean that there may be talks to a possible takeover, but so far have been knocked out.

So it remains open whether and when ubisoft is bought from another company, such as Microsoft or Sony. For the time being, it is well in the foreground to continue to develop for all platforms.

Under Whose Flag, you would like to see Ubisoft? Or should ubisoft continue to remain independent?
